Guitar Teacher
Contractor or Casual - 5-15 hours per week
Regular weekly hours (we run lessons almost year-round)
Structured course materials and coaching provided
Commencing ASAP
Want to teach lovely, motivated students in a friendly, creative place?
Pathfinder Guitar (established 2015), one of the highest-rated private guitar schools in Melbourne (according to Google reviews - our students are kind), is growing and we need a motivated, independent and friendly person to help teach our expanding student-base.
Depending on your skills and experience, this could involve:
Assisting Senior Instructors to take lessons
Running lessons independently (with materials and direction provided)
Building courses and material for future lessons
In addition to this, depending on your interests and experience, there's potential to also handle:
Social Media
Administration
Marketing
Piano Teaching
Guitar repairs & maintenance
Musical equipment sales and rental
The way we run lessons is very different to most schools, so the role would involve a paid training and transition period, regardless of how experienced you are, to help you settle in.
A few of the differences:
Almost all of our lessons are run in small groups based on age and skill level
We have structured lesson plans, with plenty of flexibility for you to adapt it and deliver it your way
Many of our students attend multiple lessons per week, and everyone at least once a week, so our students tend to be a lot more motivated than average.
We pay you for the hours you're at work, so don't worry about student absences affecting your income.
Similarly, we operate 50 weeks per year, so you'll still be employed over most holidays (and when you do want a break for holidays, tours, gigs etc, we try to be as flexible as possible)
And finally, we try to innovate! If you have ideas on better ways to teach guitar, you'll be given the freedom to try them and pass them on to the rest of the team.
Hours & Pay
This role is initially budgeted for 5-15 hours per week depending on availabilities and experience. As the school grows, or if you'd like to take on greater responsibilities, we'd be happy to discuss ways for you to progress.
Our normal operating hours are Monday - Thursday 4pm-9pm and Saturdays 10am-2pm, but we do occasionally run events outside of these hours.
Payment rates will depend on your experience and responsibilities, but would range from $25-$30 per hour plus super.
Perks
Personal and career development - in particular, we have in-house expertise in recording, administration, accounting/finance, marketing and events.
Use of studio for rehearsals outside of teaching hours.
Be treated as an equal - we're a very small team and are open to new ideas and input.

Currently work as a performing musician (some flexibility granted due to current climate, but all of our Senior Teachers are required to be active in the industry)
